IN THE NEWS:

Eventide, the Newest Magic Expansion

Cancer-Free Shawn

On Friday, July 25, 2008, eternal darkness remains the focus of the formerly cheerful world of Lorwyn. We will be meeting in The Shriner's Hall on Sunday nights for our many Eventide drafts. Sign-up is at 6:30 p.m. These will be sanctioned so be sure to bring your DCI card and $9 to take care of your entry. Don't have a DCI card or don't know what one is? We'll take good care of you. Wait...you saw that price, right? Video Games, Etc! has the lowest prices in the area on Magic product so we pass those savings on to our draft participants.

If you don't know how to draft, this is your opportunity to have one of our many experienced players lend you a hand. We're all on an even plane so come show us your chops. Need to know more? Hit the Contact Us button above and drop us an email or ring our phone. SEE YOU THERE!

Shawn Weeks

Cancer-Free Shawn

On Wednesday, May 2, 2007, we received a phone call. This call was from Shawn. Shawn is our main Yu-Gi-Oh M.C., so-to-speak. We were informed that he went to the doctor to check out a chronic stomach-ache. This was no typical ache, though. After a battery of tests, Shawn was diagnosed with Colon Cancer. On Thursday, May 3rd, the doctors at Mercy Hospital here in Cedar Rapids put Shawn under the knife to remove the cancerous section of his colon. He came out hopeful and positive that all of the cancer was removed. We wouldn't know until the following Monday whether or not all of the cancer was gone. Monday came, and so did the news of Shawn's condition.

That very next Wednesday we were excited to have Shawn present at our event to help announce that he had been deemed "Cancer-free". At C.C.G., we wish to express our excitement and relief over such a positive outcome to such a heart-wrenching week. Feel free to come on down to C.C.G. to shake the hand of our first cancer-survivor. And join us during the Freedom Festival as we volunteer to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

Congratulations, Shawn. We could not have gone this far without you and all you bring to C.C.G.

George DuCharme

George News

In the summer of 2006, we were contacted by the Cedar Rapids Gazette. They were looking for extraordinary youth to write weekly features about. On July 15, George's story was made known to all of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Click on the photo above to read a scan of the article. Thank you to Carly Weber for recognizing remarkable youth in our community.
